Bloomberg —
Motion Graphics

Art Direction, Graphic Design, Production, Motion Graphics

One of my roles at Bloomberg was creating digital signage for employee engagement, internal events, breaking financial news, employee communications and so on. All Bloomberg offices had a large number of screens and projected videos throughout the workspace, in addition to gigantic, custom-built video walls that served as a backdrop for large internal meetings and conferences.

I would occasionally be asked to provide my video and production serves to various charitable and philanthropic initiatives the company supported, such as Phipps Houses, the Morgan Library & Museum, the SLE Lupus Foundation, or the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Childrens' Benefit Fund. Other digital signage was created for offsite events the company hosted, such as the elevator ceiling of Top of the Roc, or for Bloomberg employee parties and special events.

Shown here are a collection of some of the various projects I contributed to Bloomberg while at the company.

Created for Bloomberg, 2002 - 2013.

Data Solutions Loop

I was tasked to create a digital backdrop to be played at EPS and Data Solutions events globally.

This project needed to communicate the value proposition of data solutions without going into financial cliches, and would form a sort of digital wallpaper instead of printed event signage. The project was created using Adobe After Effects. The finished animation was displayed on several plasma monitors at each booth and served as a backdrop as the speakers presented.

Bloomberg Townhall Backdrop

This project involved the creation of a digital backdrop for an employee townhall meeting, broadcast globally throughout the offices.

This project was created entirely using Adobe After Effects. The finished animation and music was played on a 20 foot tall series of monitors as employees entered the meeting room, and served as a backdrop as the speakers presented..

Top of the Rock

This piece was part featured inside the elevator ride to a Bloomberg After hours party, hosted at the Top of The Rock. The elevator itself has a glass ceiling, so as viewers travelled to the top floor, they could see a colorfully-lit elevator shaft through the animation itself.

Arcade TV Idents

These animations were created exclusively using Adobe After Effects. The first animation is more reflective of the lifestyle and cultural topics that Arcade TV covers. The second video is pure fun, inspired by the retro coin-op arcade games of the 1980s.

BGREEN Film Series Intro

The BGREEN Film Screenings present films and video projects that focus on cultural and environmental issues. This animation would play shortly before the main feature.

Lupus Research Institute Corporate Video

Presented here is a compilation of the motion graphics created for the LRI Annual Video. These were interspersed between interviews, company highlights, and footage of the accomplishments of the past year.

New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund

Presented here is New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund Annual Video. I created the opening animations, lower third graphics, and closing credits sequences for this production. The rest of the video, including all editing and music cues, where handled by additional designers and editors.

S.L.E. Lupus Foundation Annual Gala Videos

Presented above is opening sequence for the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation 2008 Annual Video.

S.L.E. Lupus Foundation 2007 Annual Video. I created all supporting graphics and animation for this production. The rest of the video, including all editing and music cues, where handled by additional designers and editors.

Philanthropic Support

The Phipps Houses Community Builder Awards honor individuals and corporations for leadership and significant contributions in building New York City’s communities.

The funds raised by this event benefit Phipps CDC programs. I created the title graphics in After Effects, and based the closing animation off the printed invite that was sent out to attendees.

I created Opening Animation and Lower3rd Graphics to be edited into the Morgan Library and Museum’s corporate video.

Looking back on this project, there really wasn’t a lot to work with. I had been sent some still images along with the Morgan logo, and needed to come up with a quick opening sequence. The lower3rd graphics turned out nice, although those elements seem to be lost to time

Bloomberg TV |
Breaking News

These are some of my earliest motion graphics projects. I was asked to develop a series of Breaking News animations. One was to focused on global news events while the other piece was to focus on financial-related stories.
