ToyFare Magazine —
Wish List! and other articles

Art Direction, Toy Design, Photography, Writer

ToyFare was a monthly magazine published by Wizard Entertainment that focused on collectible action figures, busts, statues, and maquettes. It previewed new and upcoming lines and figures each month, as well as providing a price guide for toy lines, both new and old. ToyFare was also known for its satirical humor.

The staff at ToyFare had been following my toy design work and approached me to commission custom action figures for a number of their magazine articles. They initially featured my works in their "Wish List!" column, a section devoted to toys they always wanted to see. They expanded their coverage into articles, usually a double-page spread devoted to fake toy concepts they asked me to develop. I later proposed expanding my contributions into creating a special How-To article each month, showing readers new and unexpected ways to create their own action figures. The articles showed the step-by-step process on how to sculpt a figure, or how to mold and cast parts for their projects, or how to paint a custom, along with the finished piece I created. ToyFare also asked to make speaking appearances at comic and sci-fi conventions, talking about the custom figure process.

Provided here are a collection of the various projects I contributed to ToyFare Magazine and their parent company Wizard Entertainment.

Created for ToyFare Magazine, 2005 - 2008.
